  1. Mark Crutcher apparently has never gone on a retreat. This can be a very postive experience for Fr. Frank as he leaves the busy world behind with little of worldly comforts and concerns to distract him so he can spend time with Our Lord. Some people pay to do this. St. Francis had hermitages. One brother would be “the mother” who would cook for the “son” who was alone in a hermitage, and protect him from the world so her son could spend time alone with God without distractions. After a time, they would reverse positions. Bet they didn’t even have running water in those days.
Possibly Bishop Zurik wanted Fr. Frank to have two weeks alone with God before he returned to talk with him. Crutcher seems not to understand spritual matters. Another voice on this is Phil Lawler: http://www.catholicculture.org/commentary/otn.cfm?1d=841
The most powerful thing we can do in this situaton is not to write letters, as we surely do not have all the information, but to pray for Fr. Pavonne that he may grow even closer to Our Lord and God in this time. Ifwe all did this, powerful belssings will fall fro mheaven. Remember all Pro Life work is God’s and does not belong to any man. .His is the battle. His is the victory.

    1. Nancy– I’m not altogether convinced that this falls under the usual norm of someone “taking” a retreat as much as it appears to be a case of forced seclusion. Of course there can be a spiritual benefit regardless of the Bishops’ intent; be that a good suggestion or an evil intent born of human weakness on his part (like ego). Yes, the work of the Church and the Pro Life fight are the works of God ultimately, but we have to respond to the grace the Holy Spirit provides us to carry-out the mission of the Church in the world. I guess I’m having a hard time believing that whatever Fr, Pavones transgression is, according to his Bishop, that the Spirit of Love, the Consoler, and Giver of Life, would through the Bishop deny a zealous servant of threatened children a visit to his own parents home, and no less needed medical attention… Strange… I believe there’s a meeting on the 14th, and I sincerely hope this is resolved according to the same true Spirit; and not some other spirit [LIKE THE ONE SPEAKING THROUGH THE GUY CALLING HIMSELF JESUS BELOW, WHOM I’LL PRAY FOR TONIGHT…] Until then, I’m not opposed to promoting or writing to the Bishop. Peace to you and yours Nancy, J

      1. You got the truth and this Bishop has caused scandal among all Christians. God help him and may Jesus and Mary console Father who has few clothes, no medicine and can’t even take a walk. I lived in Texas for 6 years and believe me when I say there are nasty snakes that can kill you all over the place.

  2. Referring to Mr. Lawler’s article “Father Pavone’s Last Stand” — now there’s a title that sounds objective, right? — Mr. Lawler states that Fr. Pavone said in an Amarillo TV street interview, back around Sept. 14th, that he spent funds intended for a seminary on expenses for Priests For Life. But I watched the video link provided by Lawler himself, and this is just the opposite of what Fr. Pavone actually said on camera. Take a look for yourself. And I simply have to gasp at the presumption of someone who would say that Fr. Pavone should be virtually kidnapped to Amarillo, with no warning, no opportunity to see his doctor for an appointment as previously scheduled, no 24-hour visit with his elderly parents who are no doubt in shock, and without allowing him the courtesy of making arrangements at his office, where he is the director responsible for the entire Priests for Life organization — all because out-of-the-blue, surprise — it’s ‘retreat time’, according to Bishop Zurek. Since Fr. Pavone had already begun serious opposition to President Obama’s newly launched 2012 campaign for re-election, let’s not be naive here as to who wants Fr. Pavone silenced as soon as possible, and why. Perfect timing, in fact, since Congress will vote next week on H.R. 358, the Protest Life Act, which would close loopholes allowing Obamacare funding of abortions, plus ensuring the right of conscience of health care workers who are unwilling to participate in abortions. Instead of having a public platform, Fr. Pavone is in exile.

    1. Thank you Cheryl for filling in the blanks so thoroughly on what I was suspecting this morning after viewing the video. Particularly this: Since Fr. So, we’ll just have to pick up the slack in his place by being all the more vocal until this situation is resolved and he’s released… Thanks, J

  3. Keep him locked up indefinitely and torture that [deleted] scumbag. Drive nails through his testicles while beating and lighting varies art (sic) of his body on fire. Now save yourself you [deleted] freak.

  4. Nancy, have you ever been under obedience and sent to a snake infested convent to meditate with out a reason? This is the kind of treatment they tried to do to Archbishop Fulton Sheen but didn’t get by with it. No doubt, this Bishop is pro abortion as he sent the number one defender of the pre born in the Catholic Church away without a date as when he can come back to his calling in the pro life movement. Nancy, people like you need the prayers. You have no idea what you are talking about. I am now 70 years old and this is another attack of satan’s without a doubt. He wants the good Priests either in prison or in a cell where you have to look for snakes in your toilet. There are places that specialize in retreats for Priests. Unusally, they stay 2 weeks or so. Father Pavone has no idea when he is getting out of the snake infested desert.

We do know for sure that a snake is involved. He is talked about in Genesis. The Bishop needs a retreat to work out the envy in his heart. That is what it is down to….ENVY! People all over the world know of Father Frank and until this, nobody has ever heard of this mentally deranged Bishop. Pray for the Bishop to go to the Vicar of Clergy and get a good psychiatrist for himself. He needs help as he has caused scandal within our Church. God help you Nancy for your blindness. You can’t see the forest for the trees. To those who care, “The PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD.” Tie that PHONE UP TOO. Nancy, get the catechism and become a real Catholic. May our Lord help you and our Mother Mary guide you. I have a real doubt about if you are a practicing Catholic.

    1. Sheila- Thank you for your comments. I agree on many of your points. Especially, bad spirits… However, a bit more charity toward Nancy would be appreciated. I can assure you, she is indeed a practicing Catholic, defender of the Church– of faith and morals, and most fervent Pro Life defender of children threatened in the womb by abortion…. I invite you to discover and learn about the work of The Catholic Media Coalition of which both Nancy and I are members. God Bless you and yours, and remain steadfast! Yours in Jesus Christ, EDITOR

  5. Please see the article at the following link. I think it is obvious that Phil Lawler’s viewpoint is different from those expressing their thoughts on this website but I believe his article to be objective. We need to be very careful that we don’t judge the situation without knowing all the facts. Prayer is the Answer.

O Lord, please help me to remember that there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than You. Amen

    May God Bless You All,
    Bob Brinkman

  6. EDITOR POSTED FOR COMM ENTER:

    http://m.amarillo.com/news/local-news/2011-10-09/supporters-speak-out-against-pavones-suspension-convent

Nuns at the convent said Pavone’s air-conditioned apartment includes a kitchen, and he has access to the Internet, along with television at a dining hall, where he could dine with others if he chose.

While Priests for Life has continued operating in his absence, Pavone has relied on new media to maintain the fight against his old foe, commenting on his blog, Twitter and Facebook and posting videos to YouTube.

“Well, we do have rattlesnakes,” said Sister Philip Ellenberger, who resides at the convent. “There’s a pair of shovels in each of the dining halls. But we would not require Father Pavone to kill snakes. He would just have to call us. But I haven’t seen a snake in years, to be honest with you.”

He has celebrated Mass for the convent “at least on Saturdays and Sundays when he’s here,” Ellenberger said. “Now, sometimes he’s not here. I’m not sure where he goes, but to my knowledge, he’s free to move around in the diocese.

“The concept that he’s being tied up and kept in a dungeon is really, I think, the figment of somebody’s imagination who wants to cause trouble.”
hatever his living conditions, Pavone has been a welcome guest, Ellenberger said.

“We appreciate him so much,” Ellenberger said. “He speaks with such conviction. His sermons are so good. And we’re actually taping everything, so I don’t know if that’s for him to use, you know, on YouTube.

“The farthest thing imaginable is that he’s out of contact with everybody.”
