Bishop Stupak Vs. Nancy Pelosi

His Excellency, Michigan Catholic Bishop Bart Stupak has made it clear to lay Catholic Nancy Pelosi concerning tax payer funded abortion within any health care plan, “no federal funding for abortions has been the law of the land since 1976, and the law should not be changed now…” Pelosi disagrees, saying she doesn’t believe her Bishop (Stupak) has clearly stated that position, but, that she wants to be respectful of Bishop Stupaks concerns, yet, respect full reproductive health care for America’s women…

Sound familar?

No, Northern Michigan Rep. Bart Stupak is not a Catholic Bishop, but he is a Catholic–in word and deed. And today he clearly outlined the position the United States Council of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) should now take in regard to health care reform in America.

It’s time the USCCB insures against authentic Catholic social teaching being hoodwinked by Washington:

A letter officially declaring immediate USCCB non-support of health care reform in America should find its way to the desks of all lawmakers and the President of the United States; combined with stand down orders for all Catholic health care reform support organizations under the direction of the USCCB, or, associated with the Catholic Church.

Bishops and all Catholics, including Nancy Pelosi, should follow the lead of Bishop Stupak by demanding that health care reform include Hyde Amendment language protecting against federally funded abortions. Government can once again gain back our trust and full support for health care reform, beginning with a vote on the floor. Until then, its time for Bishops to vigourously oppose all reform…

We are, after all, talking about a holocaust of children here, gentlemen.

Compare and contrast:

Speaker Nancy Pelosi– Wants federally funded abortions…

Rep. Bart Stupak– “If you want to do health care, that’s one thing. But let’s not change the law on abortion…”

Michigan’s Macomb County Road Commission orders removal of privately maintained Nativity scene at crossroads of city

Dear Reader: Ask the Macomb County Road Commission to rescind their order removing a privately maintained Nativity scene set at the crossroads of the city. The Christmas culture wars for 2009 have begun and ground zero is the Detroit suburb of Warren, which for 63 years has hosted a privately maintained Nativity scene set at the crossroads of the city.

The Nativity display had been maintained by Warren city resident John Satawa and his family for most of the municipality’s history until the Macomb County Road Commission this year ordered the display removed because they say it “clearly displays a religious message” in violation of the “separation of church and state.”

The Road Commission informed Satawa of its decision upon receiving a letter in December 2008 from the Freedom from Religion Foundation, which purported to act on behalf of a complainant in the city of 134,000 residents, saying the display violated the Constitution. (See letter here)

The Thomas Moore Law Center has filed a lawsuit on behalf of Stawa against the Road Commission. Richard Thompson, President and Chief Counsel of the Law Center, said that militant atheists attempt to do through the courts what the Taliban by force had done to Afghanistan: remove all the symbols of the country’s national heritage.

The Nativity dates from 1945, just five years after the incorporation of the Village of Warren, which then boasted 582 inhabitants.

Blasphemous ‘Madonna’s Christmas Celebration’ Returns: Reparation prayers…

“Mary, Mother of the Incarnate Word, is placed at the very center of that enmity, that struggle which accompanies the history of humanity on earth and the history of salvation itself.. In this history Mary remains a sign of sure hope.”

Pope John Paul II, Redemptoris Mater

In viewing the following promo it will be difficult to keep in mind that those participating are members of the human family created in the image of God and not, (as yet), horrifying images of Hell’s belligerent spirits and captives. Make no mistake–the sin disfigured souls found herein are demon-inspired and being led toward that greatest of human regrets–eternal separation from God. The immediacies of prayer come to mind:

“O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of your mercy…”

It’s my hope that after viewing this promotion and accompanying information you’ll join me in prayers of adoration and reparation to the Lord of Hosts for such blasphemy directed against the Blessed Virgin Mother of God, Her Son, and even, the Holy Spirit…

WARNING: This video is vile and not suitable for children.

Written and performed by Braden Chapman, who goes by the drag name “Mimi Imfurst,” Madonna’s Christmas Celebration show is in its 4th year of production. From reports and the website, the show claims to “offer insight into the psyche of the teen mother and the choices Mary had to make as a 13 year-old bride.”

Catholics protesting earlier Chapman shows in the series have called the show “despicable, blasphemous and abominable trash.”

Thus far, 10 performances are scheduled in six cities this year, many of which, fall on holy day’s such as Sunday, the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary, the Feast of St. Juan Diego, and Our Lady of Guadalupe–all during Advent.

Merry Christmas Satan. Now, get the hell out! (How you can help…)

Below this infamous show schedule are 2 prayers of reparation and a rosary chaplet created by the Most Reverend Peter J. Jugis, Bishop of Charlotte, in honor of, as he says, ”our Triune God.” Through these prayers of reparation and adoration, and in union with the Blessed Virgin Mother of God, I’m asking you to join me on show days in begging the Infant Heart of Jesus to drive out these demons of vile inspiration and right the minds of these souls created in the image and likeness of God, through conversion. Acts of Reparation to the Virgin Mary -

Words of the Prayer from Raccolta:

O blessed Virgin, Mother of God, look down in mercy from Heaven, where thou art enthroned as Queen, upon me, a miserable sinner, thine unworthy servant. Although I know full well my own unworthiness, yet in order to atone for the offenses that are done to thee by impious and blasphemous tongues, from the depths of my heart I praise and extol thee as the purest, the fairest, the holiest creature of all God’s handiwork. I bless thy holy Name, I praise thine exalted privilege of being truly Mother of God, ever Virgin, conceived without stain of sin, Co-Redemptrix of the human race. I bless the Eternal Father who chose thee in an especial way for His daughter; I bless the Word Incarnate who took upon Himself our nature in thy bosom and so made thee His Mother; I bless the Holy Spirit who took thee as His bride. All honor, praise and thanksgiving to the ever-blessed Trinity who predestined thee and loved thee so exceedingly from all eternity as to exalt thee above all creatures to the most sublime heights. O Virgin, holy and merciful, obtain for all who offend thee the grace of repentance, and graciously accept this poor act of homage from me thy servant, obtaining likewise for me from thy Divine Son the pardon and remission of all my sins. Amen.

Reparation for blasphemy against the Blessed Virgin Mary

Words of the Prayer from Raccolta:

Most glorious Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, turn thine eyes in pity upon us, miserable sinners; we are sore afflicted by the many evils that surround us in this life, but especially do we feel our hearts break within us upon hearing the dreadful insults and blasphemies uttered against thee, O Virgin Immaculate. O how these impious sayings offend the infinite Majesty of God and of His only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ! How they provoke His indignation and give us cause to fear the terrible effects of His vengeance! Would that the sacrifice of our lives might avail to put an end to such outrages and blasphemies; were it so, how gladly we should make it, for we desire, O most holy Mother, to love thee and to honor thee with all our hearts, since this is the will of God. And just because we love thee, we will do all that is in our power to make thee honored and loved by all men. In the meantime do thou, our merciful Mother, the supreme comforter of the afflicted, accept this our act of reparation which we offer thee for ourselves and for all our families, as well as for all who impiously blaspheme thee, not knowing what they say. Do thou obtain for them from Almighty God the grace of conversion, and thus render more manifest and more glorious thy kindness, thy power and thy great mercy. May they join with us in proclaiming thee blessed among women, the Immaculate Virgin and most compassionate Mother of God.

Hail Mary three times.

Full Text — Statement of Bishop Tobin in Response to Congressman Kennedy’s Attack on Catholic Church

“Congressman Kennedy continues to be a disappointment to the Catholic Church and to the citizens of the State of Rhode Island. I believe the Congressman owes us an apology for his irresponsible comments…”

tobintalks

(PROVIDENCE, R.I.) -The Most Rev. Thomas J. Tobin, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence, today issued the following statement in response to a Cybercast News Service article that reported: Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I) told CNSNews.com that the Catholic Church is doing nothing but fanning “the flames of dissent and discord” by taking the position that it will oppose the health-care reform bill under consideration in Congress unless it is amended to explicitly prohibit funding of abortion.

“Congressman Patrick Kennedy’s statement about the Catholic Church’s position on health care reform is irresponsible and ignorant of the facts. But the Congressman is correct in stating that “he can’t understand.” He got that part right.

As I wrote to Congressman Kennedy and other members of the Rhode Island Congressional Delegation recently, the Bishops of the United States are indeed in favor of comprehensive health care reform and have been for many years. But we are adamantly opposed to health care legislation that threatens the life of unborn children, requires taxpayers to pay for abortion, rations health care, or compromises the conscience of individuals.

Congressman Kennedy continues to be a disappointment to the Catholic Church and to the citizens of the State of Rhode Island. I believe the Congressman owes us an apology for his irresponsible comments. It is my fervent hope and prayer that he will find a way to provide more effective and morally responsible leadership for our state.”

Josephine County H1N1 State of Emergency: Health notice and new liturgical norms for St. Annes’ Catholic Church

HEALTH NOTICE

H1N1 Influenza

EDITOR NOTE: Here’s the State of Emergency Declaration from the Daily Courier, followed by Fr. Bill Holtzingers’ new liturgical norms:

Josephine County declares swine flu emergency

Associated Press – October 23, 2009 6:25 PM ET

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – Josephine County has declared a state of emergency over the swine flu.

The declaration Friday by county commissioners in Grants Pass cited two people dead, 21 in the hospital, and many more sick with the H1N1 virus.

County health director Belle Shepherd says the declaration will allow the county to get faster results on state lab tests and extra medical personnel if the local hospital gets overwhelmed.

Shepherd says Josephine County has 1 of the highest rates of hospitalization of swine flu cases in the state, and that hospitals in Grants Pass and Medford are near capacity – a condition known as code yellow.

Commissioners in neighboring Jackson County, where Medford is located, will consider making the same declaration at their meeting Wednesday.

Dear Parishioners,

As we all know, the flu season is upon us. In the past several days, I have received many inquiries from parishioners who have felt uncomfortable at Mass while the flu spreads in our communities. Clearly, common sense is the best advise anyone can give. Everyone should be conscientious about washing their hands and refraining from touching their eyes and nose. If anyone is not feeling well, they should not attend Mass.

However, because of the H1N1 virus, things are different. On Friday morning, Oct. 23, Josephine County declared a local state of emergency due to the outbreak of H1N1 influenza. Therefore, after consultation with the Archdiocese Office of Worship and others here in our own parish, I have decided to return to the regulations given to us last year by the Archbishop during our last flu outbreak.

This means that I am asking everyone to refrain from holding hands during the Our Father, replacing a shake of hands at he Sign of Peace with a friendly wave to each other, and Communion in the hand with the host only. This means we will suspend the offering of the Precious Blood at Mass. These regulations will be in effect until I determine that it is okay to return to our normal liturgical norms. As was the case last year, some will not agree or like these directives, but I ask your obedience and potential sacrifice of your personal piety for the greater good of the community. Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Fr. William Holtzinger

CCHD BOYCOTT VIDEO: Why I Don’t Contribute to Catholic Campaign for Human Development by Stephanie Block

NOT ONE RED CENT.

Why I Don’t Contribute to Catholic Campaign for Human Development

Thursday, October 22, 2009
Stephanie Block

In violation of the strict rule that any discussion using “Nazi” as a simile for anything is immediately ceded, let me ask what Nazism, American slavery, and abortion have in common.

The answer is that they all deny(ied) the personhood of one group of human beings with the consequence that the “right to life” of the depersonalized group lies (or lay) in the power of those with legal status.

Which is why I won’t be contributing to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development – not this year or any year that one penny goes toward the support of any Alinskyian organizing network, such as the Industrial Areas Foundation, PICO, Gamaliel, DART, and the now disgraced and defunded ACORN… not to mention smaller networks and the hundreds of affiliate groups they spawn.

The links between the Alinskyian organizing networks and abortion are indirect but serious. It isn’t that the local Alinskyian organization will say “we’re supporting abortion rights” but that they are promoting (for example) Obama’s universal, government health care, despite its abortion-supportive components or that they’ll support a pro-abortion politician because he supports a pet program. The politically progressive Alinskyian organizing networks don’t have to include abortion “rights” in their platform to be supportive them.

And there’s an additional Culture of Death problem in all this, namely the indeterminate political “relationship” created by this particular ecumenical fellowship. To take an example, consider the institutional members of the Alinskyian organization, VOICE (Virginians Organized for Interfaith Community Engagement). VOICE is an Arlington, Virginia affiliate of the Industrial Areas Foundation network and has about 39 institutional members – only institutions can join, not individual people – as well as another 7 who are in an “exploratory commitment” with the group. All are religious bodies.

Of those religious bodies, 11 are Catholic and presumably adhere to Catholic teaching about the intrinsic evil of abortion. The rest are predominantly from denominational scions – progressive break-aways from mainline religious “traditions”– that support abortion.

For instance, since 1971, the United Church of Christ has affirmed a woman’s right to access to safe and legal abortion. There are three United Church of Christ congregations in VOICE.

In 1978, Unitarian Universalists declared a “right” to contracept and abort. There are 5 Unitarian Universalists congregations involved with VOICE.

The conservative and reform branches of Judaism support a woman’s “choice” to abort and have 3 congregations in VOICE. The 5 Presbyterian members of VOICE are Presbyterian Church USA congregations. The Presbyterian Church USA also affirms a woman’s “choice.” United Methodists support the legal option of abortion…and there are 5 United Methodist congregations in VOICE.

Baptists have no centralized institutional authority, meaning there’s a good bit of variation from congregation to congregation. Their larger groupings, called conventions, do tend to group themselves into “progressive” or “traditional” camps. One “progressive” camp, for example, would be the New Baptist Convention founded by Jimmy Carter in 2008, about which The Washington Post writes gives “moderate Baptists a stronger collective voice and could provide Democrats a greater entrance into the Baptist community.” [Alan Coopeman, “Carter, Clinton Seek to Bring Together Moderate Baptists,” Washington Post, 1-21-07] Of the 8 Baptist congregations of VOICE, most seem to belong to the National Baptist Convention, which is divided on the abortion issue.

The Episcopal Church USA Executive Council formally made the Episcopal Church a member of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice in 1986. There are 2 Episcopalian congregations in VOICE.

The one African Methodist Episcopal congregation in VOICE, if it is consistent with other AME thought, laments abortion but argues it must be legally available for cases of rape, incest, and the “freedom to make reproductive choices.”

As for the Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center, VOICE’s single Muslim member, it may or may not be anti-abortion but its pro-life credentials are questionable. Paul Sperry, in his book Infiltration: How Muslim Spies and Subversives Have Penetrated Washington, writes: “Heading deeper into falls Church on Leesburg Pike for about another mile takes you to the next place of interest on the Wahhabi corridor: Dar Al Hijrah, the hard-line Wahhabi mosque where Hazmi and other hijackers from the Pentagon cell worshipped and received aid and comfort. He and other hijackers were ministered to there by an iman who encourages violent jihad and martyrdom.”

So the question is, why is the pro-life Catholic Church in a political coalition with pro-death denominations rather than other pro-life denominations? Before you answer too quickly, imagine that rather than openly supporting “woman’s right to choose,” they supported a white man’s “right” to lynch?

I suggest that if the latter situation seems clear-cut, that if pro-life churches would never consider entering into any open-ended coalition with pro-slavery organizations, they have no business in a coalition with pro-aborts either. Groups that, as a matter of institutional policy, depersonalize other human beings so that the literal life is at stake, are dangerous.

Which is why, I suspect, that one reads of Catholics around the United States organizing boycotts of the CCHD. Mary Ann Kreitzer, president of Les Femmes in Diocese of Arlington, where VOICE is active, writes, “The pretense that ending [CCHD] funding to ACORN has eliminated the scandal is ridiculous when you consider that many of the other community organizing groups receiving money operate exactly like ACORN does and are engaging in the same type of liberal lobbying. …Why are millions being funneled to secular groups that often have an agenda diametrically opposed to the Church?”

[See Kreitzer’s article http://lesfemmes- thetruth. blogspot. comsearch? q=tuck+grinnell]

What a good question. More Catholics ought to be asking it.

Attack on Pope — The Huff Posts’ conflicted Robert Lanham

Nothing new under the sun…

lanhamsmall

We’ve all seen it before: Kid raised in Christian family – Kid has moral doubts about his faith as a teen — Kid goes off to college — Kid is educated, yet, spiritually ignorant — Kid doesn’t know what to believe and drifts from the meaning of life – Kid loses faith – Kid permeated and enamored by his passing world  –  Kid becomes a numb prophet for the same world — Kid turns on Christianity and those who remained faithful — Parents and faithful continue to pray, (sometimes many years), for that interior conversion of heart and soul the Gospel calls for, which, the kid never knew…

Robert Lanham (The Kid) attacked Pope Benedict XVI yesterday in the Huffington Post:

In a move that surprised traditionalists, Pope Benedict XVI is openly courting Anglicans and rappers to join the Catholic Church in full communion. Members from both communities have voiced frustration over the growing acceptance of homosexuals and women as equals in their ranks.

“Allowing women and openly gay men to serve as bishops,” said Benedict, “is a betrayal of the traditional liturgical patrimony. It’s been very divisive for the Anglican Church. The same is true in the hip hop community where rappers are being pressured to abandon their orthodox views on b*****s, ho’s and queers,” said Benedict.

Benedict says disenfranchised rappers and Anglicans should feel at home in the Catholic Church given its unwavering stance on women and homosexuality.

“It is our intention to preserve the traditions of the Catholic Church and this includes keeping women and gays out of the priesthood. Anglicans can be assured that they can maintain their traditional liturgical practices, robes, oils and lotions.”

Responding to criticism that he’s out of step with the times, Benedict extended his invitation to the rap community using language that is most commonly associated with hip hop lyrics.

“Rappers can be assured that I won’t be hatin’ if they rhyme about ho’s and queers. I won’t be getting up on their d**k, no homo,” said Benedict.

Lovely.

Interestingly enough, the pastor of the Kids’ former church had this to say on ‘conflict and reconciliation’ this week: The Cross at the Heart of Our Conflicts

As for the Huffington Post, it’s highly unlikely that they’d pull the vile and offensive material, let alone apologize to the Pontiff as rightly they should; so maybe, just maybe, Arriana–along with her editors–can snuggle up with Glenn Close and discover together that the loss of the sense of sin can also lead to mental illness… Which, I presume is the reason the article appeared on their pages in the first place.

Iowa Bishop: “The so-called “spirit” of the Council has no authoritative interpretation” — Text of new pastoral letter

Short, concise, and to the point…

“The so-called “spirit” of the Council has no authoritative interpretation. It is a ghost or demon that must be exorcised if we are to proceed with the Lord’s work…”

Bishop Nickless, Diocese of Sioux City, Iowa

3

In a new pastoral letter Bishop of Sioux City, Iowa, R. Walker Nickless called on Catholics to, “reclaim and strengthen our understanding of the deposit of faith.” In rebuking the demon or ghost of the “Spirit of Vatican II”, the good Bishop states what clearly is needed concerning pre-conciliar and post-conciliar interpretations of the Second Vatican Council:

“It is crucial that we all grasp that the hermeneutic or interpretation of discontinuity or rupture, which many think is the settled and even official position, is not the true meaning of the Council. This interpretation sees the pre-conciliar and post-conciliar Church almost as two different churches. It sees the Second Vatican Council as a radical break with the past. There can be no split, however, between the Church and her faith before and after the Council. We must stop speaking of the “Pre-Vatican II” and “Post-Vatican II” Church, and stop seeing various characteristics of the Church as “pre” and “post” Vatican II. Instead, we must evaluate them according to their intrinsic value and pastoral effectiveness in this day and age … ”

Amen.
