UCF Student Returns Sacred Host: Letter To Catholic Campus Ministry Seeks Meeting and Apology From Bishop…

Fratres has received comments from Webster F. Cook confirming that he has returned the Sacred Host to the Catholic Campus Ministry at the University of Central Florida campus. I would personally like to thank Webster for doing the right thing and support him in his newfound reasonable approach to issues surrounding separation of church and state.

It is also my hope that all charges will be dropped in this matter that may threaten the future education(s) of either Webster or the woman who confronted him during the Holy Mass. I believe a meeting between Webster F. Cook and the Bishop will go a long way toward resolving the situation.

Here is Webster’s comment and letter,

 James,

Thank you for your apology. I did return the eucharist to the Catholic Campus Ministry yesterday along with this letter:

Dear members of the Catholic Campus Ministry,

I am returning the Eucharist to you in response to the e-mails I have received from Catholics in the UCF community. I still want the community to understand that the use physical force is wrong, especially when based on assumptions. However, I feel it is unnecessary to cause pain for those who are not at fault in this situation.

I want to thank the individuals who explained the emotional and spiritual pain my possession of the Eucharist caused them to experience. They have demonstrated that the use of reason is more effective than the use of force.

I was strongly assured by a woman that this action would help me obtain an apology and a meeting with the bishop. I hope her assurances were correct.

Sincerely,

Webster F. Cook

  1. Maureen Says:

    How do you spell narcisistic?

The physical harm was done first to Christ ,in the Blessed Sacrament.
May God bless that courageous woman for trying to rescue Christ from an act of blasphemous sacrilige. The apology needs to come from the young man and no one else. Outrageous.

  2. UCF Grad Says:

Well done and well said, Webster Cook! You are intelligent and very brave!

  3. Scott D. Says:

It was a cracker. The use of force to take back a cracker freely given to someone is absurd.

  4. Jenn Says:

What an arrogant and stupendously ignorant person Cook is, not to mention Scott D (above)!! Yikes We’re surrounded! Anyone ever see the movie “Zulu” ?

  5. Maureen Says:

John 6:54 Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink His blood, you shall not have life in you.

John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven.

He also told us to represent the last supper and His Sacrifice in memory of Him. We Catholics do this every day.

He also said He would be with us until the end of time…

Simply put, He is our modern day manna Scott.
Christ continues to give Himself humbly to us in every generation. That’s why it is so terrible when someone disrepects God in the Blessed Sacrament. It intensifies His scourging and wounds us as Catholics.

  6. Jenn Says:

Yes, to Maureen’s comments. Everyday Christ is crucified, and especially by people such as Webster Cook and Scott.

It’s incredible that people ignorant of mere social standards accuse others of not being as low and common as they are.

  7. James Ross Says:

He should be charged with a hate crime.
